Hello to everyone who comes across my journal!
Taking things step by step, I'm currently in the process of tweaking my website to give it a more presentable look. As noted in the "updates" section, I've added some older fanarts to the gallery just for test, which is why their quality isn't exactly mind-blowing (I'm giving myself a bit of a pass here).
I'm planning to give a facelift to a few fanarts and doodles to make them presentable because, truth be told, I'm feeling a tad embarrassed by their current state. I've got this love-hate dynamic going on with my creations; I treat them like my children, yet I also find myself distancing from them due to my perfectionist tendencies and that nagging self-doubt.
It's something I seriously need to work on, otherwise churning out new drawings is going to be an uphill battle. Sharing your art, particularly on the web, is like opening up a piece of your soul — you're laying out your imagination, values, tastes, and fantasies for a bunch of strangers to see.
Sharing my fan works with folks who share my interests gives me a real kick, but it also stirs up a bit of anxiety. Honestly, the whole social media landscape scares me. It's way too easy for people to pass judgment based on a couple of sentences or even just a few words taken out of context...
And that's why I'm pretty stoked about creating this fansite. It's my little sanctuary, at least until it starts gaining some serious traction (laughs).
I've got a lot more to say about social media, but I'll hold off on that for another time.
Wishing y'all a fantastic day/evening/night〜☆
I had been thinking about starting a fansite for years, but I didn't have many drawings under my belt yet (and I still only have a few), and they were generally of poor quality ( I don't feel that has changed much), so I didn't dare to create one, I was too ashamed. Also, I needed to find a domain to build my site, but most of the hosting sites aren't free or show ads right in the middle of the site we build, which doesn't sit well with me at all.
Well, that's a thing of the past now: I've come across Neocities, the successor to Geocities??? It brings about a strong sense of nostalgia when I think about Geocities sites, as it was on them that I stumbled upon gorgeous Japanese fanworks.
I've often been told that my drawing style, my approach to life, and my demeanor in "real" life carry a certain "Japanese" quality (I take this as the highest compliment). The influence of the artists I followed throughout my teenage years undoubtedly manifests in my art, right...? One thing is clear, I most certainly don't possess the skill level of my favorite artists, some of whom are listed in my bookmarks (the "BKM" section of the site).
I'll do my best to show the maximum of my abilities through this fansite! I hope to have the chance to share many fanarts, especially KojiKen, of course.
Take care of me, everyone m(_ _)m
